I guess you're never too old to learn and enjoy something new. The Note-reading Training page features a game where you earn points by clicking on the piano key corresponding to the note on the music staff. The notes are random within a selected scale. It's the only free site I've seen that combines learning scales, note-reading, and keyboard learning in one game. Under that page's Learn More link, I have put together my notes on how to read music (at least as far as recognizing the notes.) The Circle of Fifths page has an interactive circle showing all of the major and minor keys, how they relate to each other, and what their scales look like on the music staves. It identifies the keys on the piano -- and their fingering, and shows what chords are in the key. It's quite comprehensive. Under that page's Learn More link, I have put together my notes on music theory concerning scales, chords, intervals, etc. I hope you find it a fun, easy way to learn these concepts. Finally, I've included a few of the songs I've been learning to play on the piano. Don't expect too much: these were recorded after less than 2 years of weekly 1/2 hour lessons (combined with a fair amount of practice.) I just want to show other seniors that it is possible -- and fun -- to learn an instrument at our age.
