The Opening | Rules | Checkmate | Tactics |
Moving out the Rook's Pawn is a good first move. |
The King can be captured |
Checkmate is when the King is in check and cannot get out. |
A Fork is when two pieces are attacking a single piece. |
Knights should generally be moved out before Bishops.
|
You can castle when you are in check.
|
Without any other pieces but one Knight you can checkmate the King.
|
An example of a Skewer is when a Queen is in front of a Knight and the Queen is attacked by a Rook |
The Queen should be brought into play as early in the game as possible.
|
If a Rook is moved back to its starting position, it can still castle with the King.
|
With nothing left but a Pawn, you cannot ever checkmate the King.
