Part 1.
"God Bless America"
You see the above quotation all over the United States of America these days.
What does it mean?
The quote has become ubiquitous only after the attack of 9/11/2001. Instead of
trying to determine why some people hate the USA, the quote seems to say: "God is on
our side; our politics and lifestyle please God, and we have done nothing wrong."
At the same time, people outside of the US are accusing our country of international crimes against
humanity, and of having engaged in terrorism ourselves.
Where does the truth lie?
We could argue all day back and forth whether the "Crimes of America" are real
or just hateful propaganda. But what does the evidence show? As a US citizen,
I have been taught my whole life that our country is "the greatest country in the world"
and that it stands for freedom, equality, justice, democracy, and human rights. Every action
of the US is daily justified by the media: are these objective assessments -- or whitewashing?
